Description

Danone S.A. is a major company within the food and beverage industry, conducting its operations across various global regions including Europe, North America (Noram), Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. The company's business is organized into three principal segments: Essential Dairy & Plant-Based, Specialized Nutrition, and Waters. Under its Essential Dairy & Plant-Based division, Danone manufactures and distributes a broad array of products. This range includes yogurts, diverse milk products, coffee creamers, a variety of drinks and beverages, plant-based alternatives, ice creams, desserts, and powdered nutritional protein items. These are sold under proprietary brands such as Actimel, Activia, Alpro, Danette, Danio, and Danonino, as well as licensed brands including International Delight, Dunkin' Donuts, and Bailey's. The Specialized Nutrition segment focuses on providing tailored nutritional offerings. This encompasses products developed for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, infants, and young children, marketed under names like Aptamil, Nutrilon, Gallia, Cow & Gate, Blédina, Bebelac, Olvarit, and Happy Family Organics. Additionally, this segment extends to medical nutrition, featuring tube feeding formulas (e.g., Nutrison), oral nutritional supplements (e.g., Fortimel, NutriDrink), and specialized hypoallergenic products for children with allergies (e.g., Aptamil ProSyneo, Aptamil Pepti Syneo, and Neocate Syneo). Within the Waters segment, Danone offers a portfolio of bottled water products, some of which are enhanced with natural fruit extracts, fruit juice, and vitamins. Key brands in this category include evian, Volvic, Aqua, Mizone, Bonafont, Villavicencio, Villa del Sur, Hayat, Sirma, Fontvella, Lanjarón, Salus, Aqua d'Or, and Zywiec Zdroj. Danone distributes its wide selection of products through multiple channels. These include large retail chains, traditional market outlets, convenience stores, healthcare settings such like hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, and increasingly, through e-commerce platforms. Incorporated in 1899, the company was initially known as Groupe Danone before officially changing its name to Danone S.A. in April 2009. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Paris, France.
