Description

IOI Corporation Berhad operates as an investment holding company with extensive global operations, predominantly in the plantation sector across Malaysia, Europe, North America, and Asia. The company's activities are structured into two primary divisions: Plantation and Resource-Based Manufacturing. Within its agricultural segment, IOI cultivates various crops, including oil palm, softwood timber, rubber, and coconut. The Resource-Based Manufacturing division is responsible for refining and processing crude palm, crude coconut, and palm kernel oils, as well as producing specialized oils and fats. This segment also manufactures and exports a wide array of oleochemical products, such as fatty acids, soap noodles, glycerin, and various fatty acid esters. Beyond these core businesses, IOI Corporation is involved in diverse ventures. These include the commercialization of clonal plant materials, biotechnology research and development, and the provision of management and marketing services. It also generates and supplies palm-based renewable energy and actively participates in the trading of palm oil commodities, oilseeds, and edible oils and fats. Additionally, the company processes raw materials essential for the edible oils and fats industry. Its diversified portfolio also encompasses property development, maintenance, and investment. Financial operations include the issuance of exchangeable bonds and guaranteed notes, alongside treasury management services. IOI provides storage tank rentals and bulk cargo warehousing, in addition to offering management consulting. Furthermore, the company manufactures and sells plasticizer products, margarine, shortening, and fat spreads. It produces palm wood boards and panels under the OnCore brand, utilized in the furniture, construction, and building industries, and is engaged in developing a proprietary keto-ester portfolio. Founded in 1969 as Industrial Oxygen Incorporated Sdn Bhd, the company was rebranded as IOI Corporation Berhad in March 1995 and is headquartered in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
