Description

IMI plc is a global specialist engineering firm dedicated to the design, manufacturing, and servicing of highly engineered products. The company's operations are strategically organized into three distinct divisions: IMI Precision Engineering, IMI Critical Engineering, and IMI Hydronic Engineering. The IMI Precision Engineering segment innovates motion and fluid control technologies for a diverse range of applications. These include industrial automation, commercial vehicles, life sciences, energy, and railway systems. Its extensive product offering comprises actuators, various air preparation and pressure control devices, fittings, and comprehensive solutions for pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and vacuum motion. Additionally, it provides a variety of valves (such as solenoid, angle-seat, and motorized types), specialized systems for dust filtration, miniature fluid control solutions, and precise components like syringes, syringe pumps, and rotary valves. The division also develops solutions for cab chassis, powertrains, and critical emergency shutdown controls, often incorporating stainless steel valves and regulators. Products from this division are marketed under well-known brands including Norgren, Bimba, Buschjost, and Herion. In contrast, the IMI Critical Engineering division delivers specialized valves and actuators specifically designed for demanding and high-stakes environments. It serves key industries such as fossil power generation, oil and gas, petrochemicals, nuclear energy, marine operations, and pharmaceuticals. Notable brands within this portfolio include IMI CCI, IMI Thompson Valves, and IMI Truflo Marine. Lastly, IMI Hydronic Engineering concentrates on solutions for hydronic distribution systems, which are essential for heating and cooling in both residential and commercial buildings. Its product lineup features advanced balancing and control systems, thermostatic controls, pressure maintenance solutions, as well as dirt and air separators and pressure step degassers. This division's offerings are available through brands such as IMI Pneumatex, IMI TA, and IMI Heimeier. Founded in 1862, IMI plc is headquartered in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
