Description

BAE Systems plc is a global defense, aerospace, and security company. Its operations are organized into five primary segments: Electronic Systems, Cyber & Intelligence, Platforms & Services (US), Air, and Maritime. The Electronic Systems division focuses on advanced electronic technologies, including electronic warfare systems, navigation tools, electro-optical sensors, and digital controls for both military and commercial aircraft engines and flight systems. It also develops precision guidance and seeker solutions, military communication networks, persistent surveillance capabilities, space electronics, and electric drive propulsion systems. The Cyber & Intelligence segment delivers solutions aimed at strengthening national security. This encompasses modernizing, maintaining, and testing cyber-hardened aircraft, radars, missile systems, and mission applications designed to detect and deter threats. It provides comprehensive systems engineering, integration, and sustainment services for critical weapons systems, C5ISR, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, this segment offers data intelligence solutions to protect networks and data from large-scale threats, provides security and intelligence services to the UK government and international allies, and develops anti-fraud and regulatory compliance tools, alongside enterprise data and digital services for intelligence and federal/civilian agencies. The Platforms & Services (US) segment manufactures combat vehicles, weapons, and munitions. It also provides ship repair services and manages government-owned munitions production facilities within the United States. The Air segment specializes in the development, manufacturing, upgrading, and support of combat aircraft and jet trainers. Finally, the Maritime segment designs, constructs, and maintains surface ships, submarines, torpedoes, naval radars, and command and combat systems. It also supplies naval gun systems, missile launchers, and precision munitions. The company was founded in 1970 and maintains its headquarters in Farnborough, United Kingdom.
