Within the Opto-Semiconductor segment, Hamamatsu Photonics develops and supplies silicon photodiodes, integrated photo ICs, detectors sensitive to position and infrared radiation, high-performance image sensors tailored for both low-light and X-ray environments, compact spectrometers, and light-emitting devices. These advanced solutions are vital for fields such as medical imaging, high-energy physics experiments, and diverse scientific measurement tasks. The Imaging and Measurement Instruments division delivers a broad spectrum of cameras for scientific exploration and industrial processes. It also produces bespoke instrumentation crucial for pharmaceutical research and development, semiconductor fabrication, non-destructive X-ray examination, spectrophotometric analysis, and optical communication systems. Beyond its core activities, Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. also maintains interests in semiconductor laser technology and the hospitality sector. Established in 1953 and headquartered in Hamamatsu, Japan, the company was previously known as Hamamatsu TV Co., Ltd.
