Description

TotalEnergies SE operates as a major global integrated energy corporation. Its diverse activities are structured into four key business segments: Integrated Gas, Renewables & Power; Exploration & Production; Refining & Chemicals; and Marketing & Services. The Integrated Gas, Renewables & Power segment manages the full lifecycle of liquefied natural gas (LNG), from its production and shipping to trading and regasification. This division also trades other energy commodities such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), petcoke, sulfur, natural gas, and electricity, and handles natural gas transportation. It generates electricity using various sources including natural gas, wind, solar, hydroelectric, and biogas, while also engaging in energy storage, developing biomethane production units, and offering energy efficiency solutions. The Exploration & Production division is dedicated to the discovery and extraction of crude oil and natural gas reserves. Within Refining & Chemicals, the company processes petrochemicals like olefins and aromatics, and manufactures polymer derivatives such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and hydrocarbon resins. This segment further specializes in biomass conversion and elastomer processing, alongside the global trading and transportation of crude oil and refined petroleum products. The Marketing & Services segment is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of lubricants. It also supplies and commercializes a broad spectrum of petroleum products, including bulk fuels, aviation and marine fuels, specialized fluids, compressed natural gas (CNG), LPG, and bitumen, while offering fuel payment services. This segment maintains a substantial infrastructure, comprising approximately 16,000 service stations and 25,000 electric vehicle charging points. As of December 31, 2021, TotalEnergies SE reported its combined proven oil and gas reserves to be 12,062 million barrels of oil equivalent (Mboe). The company has established strategic collaborations with PureCycle Technologies, Plastic Energy, Freepoint Eco-Systems, and Plastic Omnium for various development initiatives. Founded in 1924, the enterprise was formerly known as TOTAL SE before rebranding to TotalEnergies SE in June 2021. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Courbevoie, France.
