Description

Shell plc operates as a global energy and petrochemical enterprise, with a presence spanning Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, North America, and South America. Its diverse operations are categorized into segments such as Integrated Gas, Upstream exploration and production, Marketing, Chemicals and Products, and Renewables and Energy Solutions. The company engages in the exploration and extraction of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. It also handles the marketing and transportation of oil and gas, manufactures gas-to-liquids fuels, and manages the upstream and midstream infrastructure required for gas delivery to consumers. Furthermore, Shell actively participates in the trading and commercialization of natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil, electricity, and carbon-emission allowances, also supplying LNG specifically as a fuel for heavy-duty road vehicles and maritime transport. Shell refines and trades crude oil alongside various other feedstocks, with its product portfolio encompassing low-carbon fuels, lubricants, bitumen, sulphur, gasoline, diesel, heating oil, aviation fuel, and marine fuel. The firm also produces and distributes petrochemicals for industrial applications and oversees oil sands operations. Its chemical manufacturing extends to base chemicals like ethylene, propylene, and aromatics, in addition to intermediate chemicals such as styrene monomer, propylene oxide, solvents, detergent alcohols, ethylene oxide, and ethylene glycol. Beyond traditional energy, Shell is involved in generating electricity from renewable sources like wind and solar, producing and selling hydrogen, offering electric vehicle charging solutions, and developing electricity storage capabilities. Established in London, United Kingdom, in 1907, the company was formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell plc before rebranding to Shell plc in January 2022.
