Description

Established in Tokyo, Japan, in 1884, Dowa Holdings Co., Ltd. is a global enterprise conducting diverse operations across several key industrial sectors: environmental management and recycling, nonferrous metals, electronic materials, metal processing, and heat treatment. Its Environmental Management & Recycling division provides comprehensive solutions, including intermediate waste treatment, controlled landfilling, and vital soil remediation services. This segment also specializes in the recycling of various materials, such as metals, household appliances, and automobiles, alongside offering environmental consulting and specialized logistics. The Nonferrous Metals segment is a significant producer and supplier of an extensive array of precious and base metals, including gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, and various zinc alloys. It further deals in palladium, rhodium, tin, antimony, nickel sulfate, bismuth, indium, platinum, tellurium, and sulfuric acid. Within its Electronic Materials operations, Dowa Holdings manufactures high-purity substances, gallium arsenide (GaAs) substrate wafers, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). This unit additionally supplies various powders, such as silver, copper, metal, carrier, and ferrite powders. The Metal Processing unit manufactures a range of products including copper and brass items, copper and nickel alloy strips, reflow tin plated strips, brass rods, and forged brass components. It also offers precious metal plating products and metal-ceramics substrates. Finally, the Heat Treatment division specializes in the entire lifecycle of industrial furnaces and related equipment, from design and manufacturing to ongoing maintenance, while also delivering expert heat and surface treatment services. Beyond these core areas, the company's broader activities include the construction and upkeep of plants and machinery, heavy concrete construction work, and the management of golf courses and real estate. Dowa Holdings also provides general business support, technological development assistance, analytical and evaluation services, and environmental measurement. The company was originally incorporated as Dowa Mining Co., Ltd., before adopting its current name, Dowa Holdings Co., Ltd., in October 2006.
