Description
Valneva SE is a specialized biotechnology company focused on developing and bringing to market preventative vaccines for infectious diseases with significant unmet medical needs. Their commercial offerings for travelers include IXIARO, a vaccine against Japanese encephalitis, and DUKORAL, an oral vaccine designed to protect against diarrhea caused by Vibrio cholera and specific heat-labile toxin-producing Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli. The company also progressed VLA2001, a vaccine candidate targeting SARS-CoV-2. In its development pipeline, Valneva has VLA15, a Lyme disease vaccine candidate that has concluded Phase II clinical trials, and VLA1553, a chikungunya virus vaccine candidate currently undergoing Phase III evaluation. The company distributes its products across the United States, Canada, various European nations including Germany, Austria, the Nordics, and the United Kingdom, as well as other global markets. Valneva SE has established strategic partnerships, notably with Pfizer, Inc. for the joint development and commercialization of its Lyme disease vaccine, and with Instituto Butantan for the creation, manufacturing, and marketing of a single-shot chikungunya vaccine. The company was established in 1998 and operates from its headquarters in Saint-Herblain, France.
