Description

Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited, along with its associated entities, is a Chinese enterprise primarily engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of various petroleum-based products within the People's Republic of China. Its business activities are structured across five key divisions: Synthetic Fibers, Resins and Plastics, Intermediate Petrochemicals, Petroleum Products, and Trading of Petrochemical Products. The Synthetic Fibers division focuses on producing polyesters, acrylic fibers, and carbon fibers, largely destined for the textile and apparel industries. The Resins and Plastics segment manufactures polyester chips, crucial for making polyester fibers, coatings, and containers. This segment also creates polyethylene resins and plastics, essential for insulated cables, agricultural mulching films, and molded items like housewares and toys. Furthermore, it produces polypropylene resins, utilized in films, sheets, and a broad spectrum of molded goods, including domestic articles, toys, consumer electronics, and automotive parts, in addition to PVA granules. The Intermediate Petrochemicals division concentrates on generating foundational chemicals such as p-xylene, benzene, and ethylene oxide. These serve as vital precursors for the subsequent production of other petrochemicals, resins, plastics, and synthetic fibers. Through its Petroleum Products segment, the company manages crude oil refining operations, yielding finished goods including refined gasoline, various fuels, diesel, heavy fuel oil, and liquefied petroleum gas. Finally, the Petrochemical Product Trading segment facilitates the international import and export of petrochemical commodities. Established in 1972, the firm maintains its principal offices in Shanghai, China. Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited operates as a subsidiary under the umbrella of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation.
